Thailand Thailand is located at the heart of Southeast Asia, between the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Thailand.

A country rich in contrasts Thailand is divided into four main regions, the mountains of the north, fertile central plains, the semi arid traditional farming regions of the north-east and fine tropical beaches and off shore islands of the south.

It has a tropical climate with three distinct seasons hot in March to May, rainy June to October and cool from November to February (with average temperatures in the low 30s). Known as 'the land of smiles' Thailand is a country rich in culture and tradition with its warm friendly and charming people, it has something special to offer everyone. In the 2009 Condé Nast Readers Travel Awards Thailand was voted in the top 15 favourite holiday destinations world-wide.

Bangkok

-- The capital of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the world's most exciting and busy cities, a combination of old world and new it is home to more than seven million people. It is an exotic city with its lively nightlife, markets, restaurants and shops as well as its magnificent glittering temples, museums, palaces, colonial buildings and parks.

Cha-Am / Hua Hin

-- Located approximately 2 hours by road south west of Bangkok, Cha-Am was once a fishing village and is now a stylish resort with fine beach hotels and restaurants. Neighbouring Hua Hin is Thailand's oldest beach resort popular since the 1920s it is home to the first golf course, the Royal Hua Hin, and is a popular destination with its clear water and fine beaches and traditional Thai atmosphere.

Chiang Mai

-- Often called the 'rose of the North' Chiang Mai is a 70 minute flight north of Bangkok. It is famous not only for its beautiful temples but for its excellent shopping and trekking facilities. Chiang Mai is also famous for its arts and crafts and night bazaar. Outside the city you can visit handcraft villages to see umbrella making, silk farms, orchid farms and for the more adventurous elephant trekking, water rafting and visits to hill tribe villages.

Koh Samui

-- Koh Samui is a beautiful island located on the east of the peninsula only one hours flying time from Bangkok. It is known as coconut island with its beautiful palm fringed beaches. Chaweng is the largest, busiest beach resort on the island, located on the east coast it is protected by a coral reef, and offers a wide range of sports including windsurfing, canoeing and scuba diving.

Pattaya

-- Situated on the Gulf of Siam 150 kms south-east of Bangkok, Pattaya is one of the most famous beach resorts in Thailand, offering a host of activities including golf courses and the best water-sports facilities in the country.

Phuket

-- Located in the upper Andaman Coast to the west of the narrow peninsula of Southern Thailand, Phuket is the largest island and one of the most popular tourist resorts. With beautiful beaches lined with palm trees, coral reefs, luxury hotels and a wide range of water sports and nightlife available, Phuket is an ideal holiday location.
