Day 1: Depart Dublin Airport at 07.10 am and arrive in Naples at 11.30a.m. On arrival in Naples you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Sorrento, La Pergola. This friendly family run hotel offers a modern environment to experience the beauty that Sorrento has to offer. You can relax in the garden, have a swim or unwind in the hot tub before you enjoy an evening at leisure in this magnificent coastal town, perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas. With sweeping water views and Piazza Tasso, a café lined square with a welcoming and vivacious buzz of the Italian people, mouth-watering cuisine and wines. #Included: Overnight at hotel and breakfast. Day 2: After a relaxing breakfast you will join our local representative at Piazza Tasso. Sorrento’s historical centre is the ideal place for exploring. From the seafront to the narrow streets leading to the main street area where there are thousands of souvenirs to be found. You will have a demonstration of the inlaid wooden marquetry realized by the Sorrentine artisan, watch as they patiently and skillfully decorate wooden objects with delicate inlays creating a variety of patterns and colours. You can also have a taste myriad of delicacies such as limoncello liqueurs and local handmade ice cream. The land of Sirens filled with surprises you will find it difficult to resist the amount of appealing options that vary from local handicraft found in this magnificent town. You will find historical structures, traditional pizzerias and humble yet picturesque trattorias. Every corner is filled with flavours capable of exceeding every gourmands expectations. The evening is free to explore on your own. #Included: Overnight at hotel and breakfast. Walking tour of Sorrento. Day 3: After an early breakfast you will be collected from your hotel for your visit to Vesuvius. You get to visit the only active Volcano on mainland Europe that dominates the Bay of Naples. Drive up through the old original crater to approx. 3000ft, and then make the final climb on foot up a zig zag path of volcanic gravel. You can walk to the very top and admire the splendid panoramic views – weather conditions permitting – across the bay. Once at the top you can continue walking half of the way around the crater to take a look inside and to admire the whole bay. On your return to Sorrento a stop will be made at Vico Equense to visit the mineralogical museum where you can see approx. 230 varieties of Vesuvian Minerals as well as thousands of other examples from around the world. Tour to Mount Vesuvius Day 4: You have the day free to enjoy a trip to the local markets or a sightseeing bus tour, there are plenty of excursions available. This evening you can take a leisurely stroll to the Museo Correale, nestled in a patrician villa, surrounded by a citrus grove, with a terrace that overlooks the Gulf of Naples. You will enjoy a glass of Italian spumante, in the garden before the enticing voices of Alessandro Fortunato, Francesco Forti and Antonio Napoli, supported by strings and piano, offer the spectator an extraordinary concert with masterpieces of the Italian opera and Neapolitan songs. This incredible and breath-taking musical experience is an unmissable voyage in the Italian songs history with the powerful male voices of the Three Tenors. A concert full of emotions, romanticism but also funny moments. #Included: Overnight at hotel and breakfast. Three Tenors concert with complimentary drink. Day 5: Skip the traffic and travel on the Campania Express for a guided tour of Pompeii, the city frozen in time. A new and modern train service from Sorrento will have you on the door step of one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites in a little over 20 minutes. This fascinating half day tour is the perfect introduction to this ancient city, situated at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. It was destroyed in 79AD, following the famous volcanic eruption that smothered it in 6 to 7 metres of pumice and ash. Enjoy a 2 hour guided walking tour around the remains of this impressive and doomed city to get a feel for what life was like, in Roman times before the city’s destruction. A short journey and you are at your destination with no traffic to get in your way. You will have the evening free #Included: Overnight at hotel and breakfast. Pompeii express the special train for Pompeii Day 6: Departing Sorrento early morning the coach joins the Amalfi coastal road which is one of the most stunning coastal drives in Europe. The scenery is superb, looking out over the Mediterranean and along the coastline as the road twists and turns its way towards the town of Positano. The town is built on different levels from the main road all the way down to sea level, giving the image of a waterfall of buildings cascading down to the sea. You can enjoy views and take photos from the bus, as this spectacular journey continues with fabulous views all the way to Amalfi. You have 3 hours free time in Amalfi where a guided boat trip along the coast may be possible dependant on availability and weather conditions. You can visit the magnificent 9th century Cathedral which proudly dominates the main square of Amalfi, wander through the narrow streets of the town and browse the many shops or enjoy a coffee in one of the cafes around Amalfi. After lunch you will carry on to Ravello which is situated on the hillside above Amalfi. This is where Wagner was inspired to write part of one of his operas and it is from here that you can enjoy the best views of the Amalfi coastline looking over to Minori, Mauori and beyond. This quaint little town has a main square where the centrepiece is the bright picturesque eleventh century cathedral. Another option is to visit the Villa Rufolo with its gardens and wonderful views. For the journey back to Sorrento we head over the hills joining the motorway to Castellammare and then back along the coastal road to Sorrento. #Included: Overnight at hotel and Breakfast. Amalfi and Ravello drive with lunch. Day 7: Time to immerse yourself in the beautiful atmosphere and enjoy the warm morning sun. Sorrento peninsula has a landscape unique in the world. Olive groves and vineyards add character and colour to the streets of Sorrento. You can inhale a stirring scent of orange blossom and lemon trees. Find a terrace to lounge and enjoy a drink or meal alfresco. You have the day free to relax or if you want more adventure you can book an excursion with our local representative who will gladly advise you. #Included: Overnight at Hotel and breakfast.
