Company history

From a small travel agency in Blackrock, Co Dublin to the country’s largest Irish owned tour operator.

On the 28th April 1966, a dream was made reality when my grandfather Roy Beatty, with a team of four including his daughter (my aunt) Madeline Kilbride commenced trading as Sunway. Over the next 30 years Madeline built the business until her retirement in 1998 when it was my turn to take the reins.

Since day one, Sunway has grown from strength to strength.

Today The Sunway Travel Group employs over 130 staff and features over 70 destinations worldwide (more than any other tour operator in Ireland), from some of the finest 5 star hotels in the world to self catering apartments in countries across The Caribbean and Asia to the best resorts in Europe.

I have a huge passion for travel and strive on listening to people’s opinions and looking for new angles to develop the business. I am focused on worldwide trends in travel and leisure and am constantly searching for innovative methods to market the company. I have a policy of never standing still and every year our destinations and properties on offer are reviewed and updated.
