Antalya - Turquoise Coast

Antalya is the capital city of the region and the largest Turkish city on the Med. It’s a buzzing, vibrant metropolis of around one million people. It has a lot to offer and the challenge will be to decide what to go for and what to leave out (until the next time!) Of course a city tour is always a good idea but in Antalya you have the added enjoyment of going up the Tunektepe cable car to look over the city, it’s only 618 metres so no big deal!

Having got your bearings there’s plenty more to do and see. Antalya Old Town or Kaleici is a must for any visitor wanting to soak up the atmosphere of this stunning destination. Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architecture sit side by side in a charming mixture of styles and cultures. Cafes, quaint souvenir shops, lively bars that stretch across the cobblestone streets invite the visitor to linger and enjoy. Afterwards stroll towards the old Marina and Hadrian's Gate soaking in the history as you go.

The Antalya museum is a treasure trove of artefacts from the region’s rich past and is well worth a visit. When you’re all cultured up you can relax at stunning Lara Beach only 10km from the city. Or visit the milky waters of the Duden Falls. The nightlife in Antalya is eclectic and energetic. Fine dining and traditional cuisine are readily available while buzzing bars and nightclubs are in no short supply. All in all Antalya can offer the visitor a fun, lively but also relaxing holiday experience.
