Washington DC is a dynamic and cosmopolitan capital city, packed with many famous sights and free attractions and recently voted America's 'Coolest City' beyond the national treasures and historic buildings. Washington DC's neighbourhoods buzz with lively cafes and restaurants, deep-rooted culture and music of all kinds, for example Adams-Morgan with its cool and trendy shops and stores, Dupont Circle is lively and upscale with its fabulous restaurants and galleries and the most well known Georgetown known for its beautiful houses, boutique shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Washington is of course home to some of the world's best-known museums, galleries and iconic landmarks including the Smithsonian Institute, the Lincoln Memorial , the Washington Momument, the International Spy Museum, not to mention the magnificent and stately White House. With year round events and festivals, trendy new restaurants and bars, great nightlife, live music, theatres and terrific shopping it all comes together to make Washington DC a fantastic city break destination and the perfect choice for a taste of the American experience!

Top Tips: Washington DC is truly the land of the free with so many free museums, monuments and memorials to visit at no cost! Check out the White House Visitors Centre to see the interactive information display on the buildings history, architecture and famous former residents.

Other iconic Washington DC landmarks include the Lincoln Memorial from whose steps Martin Luther King made his famous 'I Have A Dream' speech. Also the Jefferson Memorial, the magnificent white domed US Capitol, the Pentagon and the Washington Monument. The Smithsonian Institute is the pride of Washington DC and home to a fantastic collection of fifteen art galleries and museums dotted all around the city.

Spring is one of the best times to visit DC to view the National Cherry Blossom Festival. From late March is a beautiful time to visit and see the impressive 3,750 cherry blossom trees in full bloom.
