About 10km south of the airport half way along the eastern coast lies Caleta de Fuste, also known as Castillo. It is one of the most popular major tourist towns on the island and has the benefit of a short airport transfer. It is a modern resort built around a bay and particularly popular with families.
The first beach that was created was designed as a large horseshoe shaped bay. It is mostly sheltered from the waves and shelves gently into the sea making it particularly child friendly. Several new smaller beaches were created afterwards so you won’t be a short of a spot for your lounger and parasol.
The nightlife is pretty varied with plenty of bars offering all kinds of entertainment, from live music to karaoke and a wide variety of restaurants including Chinese, Italian and authentic Spanish. As the resort is popular with Irish holidaymakers you will find a good few pubs ran and owned by Irish people. Most of the restaurants and bars are concentrated in the one area so it is easy to find places and get around.
There are two golf courses in Caleta De Fuste. The usual activities of jet skiing, water skiing, boat trips, snorkelling, diving and day trips around the island are also readily available. You can even go on an underwater adventure in a submarine! Caleta De Fuste is ideally situated to explore the rest of the island.
