Olbia Costa Smeralda holiday destination

Olbia Costa Smeralda

Sardinia Olbia

Olbia is a coastal city in north east Sardinia, Italy. It’s known for the medieval San Simplicio basilica, and for cafes dotting central squares like Piazza Matteotti. On the palm-lined waterfront to the east, the Museo Archeologico di Olbia has exhibits ranging from Nuragic artifacts to Roman warships. The hilltop Nuraghe Riu Mulinu is an archaeological complex with views of the Gulf of Olbia.

With an extremely long and rich history, inexpensive but tasteful restaurants, and exciting museums scattered throughout, it is, in fact, quite a gem of Sardinia well worth the visit. On Corso Umberto and signposted down smaller lanes nearby there are many welcoming, unpretentious places to eat. Beaches are accessible both to the north and the south of Olbia, some connected to the town by public bus. However, if you want to make the most of this wonderful coastline, we do recommend a car.

Transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda airport approx. 10 minutes.
