Fully Guided

Wine, Food & Fun Tour, what more could you ask for from a great holiday. All the you have to do on this trip is discover internationally acclaimed wines, eat authentic french food, stroll through rural Bordeaux and have fun with like minded people.

Day 1
You will be met at Bordeaux Airport and will be transferred by private minibus to Les Mondains ( a 500 year old refurbished farmhouse). On arrival you will be greeted with a welcome glass of bubbles, followed by dinner and plenty of wine tasting.

Day 2
We have a lovely day planned for you! Starting with a traditional breakfast at the farmhouse, followed by a guided walk through the countryside and vines at Chateau les Grimand it is a great way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.

After the walk, you'll enjoy a 3 course lunch with Bernard Havard (the wine maker) where you will have the opportunity to sample his vast range of wines and ask questions informally throughout the meal.

Next, you will visit a working chai (Chateau des Grimards or Bellevue Peycharneau). Here you will have the chance to observe the wine making process firsthand.

In the late afternoon you will head back to Les Mondains, where you can relax by the pool, take a swim or just unwind and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the surroundings.

Finally, the day concludes with a buffet-style evening meal. Overall your day includes a blend of exploration, gastronomy and relaxation. A choice of wine is readily available and always included with activities at the farmhouse. Don’t forget to ask for a nightcap.

Day 3
Breakfast today will be at a local Patisserie / Boulangerie. After this you will be transferred to the world unesco heritage site of Saint Emilion (20 minutes away). Here you will have a guided tour of Saint Emilion. The town is famous for its underground catacombs, and you can visit some of the historic cellars where wine is still produced today. There will be plenty of time to visit the numerous wine shops and boutiques. Don't forget to try the macarons and other local delicacies as well. You will be free to have lunch or a snack at your leisure.

At the end of your day trip, we will transfer you back to Les Mondains where a 3 course dinner with wine will be served to you at the farmhouse by a local chef.

Day 4
You will start the day with breakfast at the farmhouse, followed by a refreshing walk. Afterwards you will visit the town of Bergerac which will provide you with a charming experience. We will take a fully guided boat trip down the Dordogne on a traditional Gabarre. This particular boat, originally used for freight transport since Gallo-Roman times, moves with ease. Discover the natural ecosystem of the Dordogne, one of the cleanest rivers in France (Biosphere Reserve by Unesco), and admire the flourishing nature that surrounds you. Fauna, flora, stone buildings, charming villages and mills.

For lunch you have a choice of dining at a local creperie or sharing a platter with a glass of wine on the terrace of the Maison du Vin. Late afternoon you will be transferred back to Les Mondains where you can relax in the secluded walled garden by the pool overlooking the walnut grove.

In the evening we will have a buffet type meal together (meats/cheeses/salad/baquette) with wine reflecting on the great fun we have had over the past few days.....

Testimonials:

“What a wonderful and unique 6 day experience, filled with visits to vignerons to see them make the wine and then interesting discussions over delicious wine tasting lunches. Accommodation was excellent in the authentic French farmhouse with swimming pool that was located in beautiful countryside with vines, walnut groves and wildlife all around. Quiet and safe for walking. Visits to St. Emilion and the market in Ste. Foy le Grande. Difficult to decide the food highlight between dinner beside the wine vats with Jean Claude Pires at Chateau Bellevue Peycharneau, sharing his 40 years of wine making knowledge or the 7 course meal with wine at each course later in the week, I can’t wait to do it again . . .”

“From the moment we arrived in Bordeaux, we had nothing to do but eat, drink, be ferried about from vineyard to vineyard, village to village, restaurant to restaurant. Everything was provided in the wonderful farmhouse where we all had our own bedrooms, shared a beautiful sitting room, a large kitchen with a dining area inside and out. The swimming pool was a great attraction for an afternoon splash. I loved the all inclusive trip, with all food and beverages provided. The only thing I paid for was trinkets and incidentals at the local market. I have booked again for the wine harvest in 2023."

Sarah Jane Ward ( Stephen’s Green Club) Wine Harvest 2022

Possibly one of the most enjoyable and happy 5 days we have spent, ever! Looked after like VIP’s from morning to night in the most beautiful Bordeaux region, by Shane Maguire, the most knowledgeable wine guide and cook. BBQ’s the very best. Lunching with the wine growers was magical
