Mykonos

Considered being the most beautiful beach of the island's south-west coast, Agios Ioannis has soft sand and crystalline blue waters. Located on the south-west coast of the island, 5 km from Mykonos Town, Agios Ioannis is fully organised, wind-protected beach, ideal for families. Named after a small chapel standing above it, this beach looks out to the island of Delos. Although quiet out of season, it can get quite crowded in the most popular summer months. The clear waters make it particularly good for swimming and snorkeling. There are sunbeds to rent, and good sunset views. Several daily buses from Mykonos town run by the steep, short access road down to Agios Ioannis, turning around in the parking lot near the picturesque Cycladic church by the sea. From Agios Ioannis it’s a 10-minute walk past the church and around the headland to the small, sheltered and practically deserted cove of Kapari beach. Agios Ioannis was where the award-winning film "Shirley Valentine" was filmed, in 1989, before Mykonos became the hot destination it is now.
