The monumental amphitheatre could hold up to 80,000 spectators and was in use up to medieval times. The underground section has recently become accessible to visitors who can now see where the gladiators waited and prepared before entering the arena. Only a few minutes away is the amazing Forum and Palatine Hill. This area really takes you back to the days of the Empire.
