Colosseum Area

Rome, Italy

The area around the Colosseum is steeped in ancient history. The Colosseum itself, built by the emperor Vespasian in 80AD is considered one of the Wonders of the World. The monumental amphitheatre could hold up to 80,000 spectators and was in use up to medieval times. The underground section has recently become accessible to visitors who can now see where the gladiators waited and prepared before entering the arena. Only a few minutes away is the amazing Forum and Palatine Hill. This area really takes you back to the days of the Empire. The atmosphere has the power to conjure up the ghosts of Rome's ancient past. Here was the centre of everyday life
● politics, processions, criminal trials, debates, and shopping all took place in the Forum.

Transfer from Rome airport approx. 50 mins.
