The Termini area of Rome is best known for the Termini Station which is the main Train, bus, and metro station for the city. It is named as such not because of it being the terminus but after the public baths built by the emperor Diocletian which are located across the street.

Termini is a good location to use a base for seeing the rest of the city on foot or using public transport. The two sights of most interest would be the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and Diocletian's Baths. There's not a lot in the way of shopping but there's a buzzy atmosphere and plenty of choice in restaurants and cafes.
