Mahe

Nestled just south of the equator, the Seychelles 118 islands offer year round sunshine and keep their lush, tropical appearance thanks to generous (but not excessive!) rainfall. Only a few of the islands are inhabited. A mix of towering granite peaks, lush tropical forests, idyllic views, isolated golden sand bars and unexplored atolls fringed by teeming coral reefs await you.

The Seychelles lie outside the cyclone belt, keeping the country safe from tropical storms and resulting in year-round sunshine. Mahe is the largest island of the Seychelles and home to the vast majority of the Seychelles’ population. Some of its bays are still hidden treasures and only accessible by boat or on foot. Scuba divers and snorkelers will revel in the amount of dive spots to choose from where they can marvel at the colourful and vibrant marine life. Mahe has some fantastic beaches with the more popular ones being on the north side of the island. Birds and giant tortoises are more likely to keep you company than people! The west coast boasts stunning scenery, wild and unspoilt with jungle sloping down to meet the small sandy beaches.

Its capital, Victoria, offers a variety of attractions including museums, bars, restaurants, a couple of casinos and discos. Victoria is the only place within the Seychelles where you can play golf, albeit on a little 9 hole course which used to be an old coconut plantation!

Life is conducted at a snail’s pace, perfect for a relaxing tropical beach holiday for honeymooners, sun worshippers and nature lovers. A little slice of tropical paradise indeed!
