Polignano a Mare
Puglia
Set on a high rugged cliff overlooking the crystal waters of the Adriatic, Polignano is a jewel of a destination. The old town is a maze of wonderful narrow streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants with history on every corner; 13th-century churches, 16th-century archways and always the aroma of simple yet stunning dishes.
Of course, Polignano is most famous for its delightful beach, the Lama Monachile. If ever there was an image of what Puglia means to the romantic traveller this is it.
This picturesque village has so much to recommend itself for any traveller looking for that something special, that memory that will live long after the journey.
