Phan Thiet

Phan Thiet is a lovely beach resort and charming fishing area, located on the most southerly stretch of Central Vietnam and only approx. 3 - 4 hours by road from Saigon. It is quieter and less commercialised than the beach resort of Nha Trang. The ways of the traditional fishing village haven’t been disrupted and Phan Thiet still retains that character about it despite the modern tourist hotel resorts cropping up.

Good quality reasonably priced seafood restaurants line the beach. The busy harbour with its abundance of colourful fishing boats is a great spot to take some holiday pictures. The bridges and parks surrounding the harbour provide for a nice stroll or wander around the village’s shops and check out the menus of local restaurants deciding what to eat that evening! The impressive Phan Thiet Water Tower is the most important landmark in the province. The Prince’s Castle, ruins of a large French estate from colonial times, offers fine views of Phan Thiet and its surrounding countryside from its hillside setting.

Mui Ne Bay is located a few kilometres from Phan Thiet and together these two traditional villages are fast becoming popular holiday spots with international visitors, not just locals. Mui Ne offers a stretch of more than 16 km of white sandy beaches bordered with coconut trees. In the Phan Thiet-Mui Ne area you have stunning beaches, tropical forests, vast sand dunes, rustic harbours and superb fresh seafood all on your doorstep.
