Heritage Britania Hotel

Heritage Britania Hotel

Lisbon City

The only surviving original Art Deco hotel in Lisbon, with a touch of modern whimsical nuances, this small hotel is unique. Dating from 1944 and designed by the famous Portuguese modernist architect Cassiano Branco, it retains its original soul. Meticulously recuperated, it was combined with nowadays technologies in order to offer all actual comfort. The Hotel Britania is perfectly located in a quiet street just off the exclusive Avenida da Liberdade. This hotel is a work of art with the atmosphere of a private club. The 32 rooms and one suite are large and comfortably furnished with Art Deco lights and furniture. Some rooms have terraces and all are in muted colours of dull gold and creams. Floors are covered in Portugal’s most famous export, cork, which was much used at that time. Period bathrooms, with bath tubs, are marble clad and have Molton Brown amenities. Tradition & modernity living side by side! Hotel Britania offers 24-hour room service as well as a convenient breakfast buffet, which is served until 12:00. The recovery of the whole building is exemplary as is the case of the paintings in the bar alluding to the Portuguese overseas empire. There is a cosy library with a wide range of books on Portugal as well as a selection of board games and a bar with an equally wide range of Portuguese wines and ports to sample.
