Monopoli is another Adriatic treasure, only 30km from Bari. Its fabulous Baroque cathedral, the Castle of Carlo V, the Palmieri Palace all add a lustre of history and romance to this beautiful town. In the Piazza XX Settembre, there is a colourful local market and in the adjoining streets, many artisan shops, cafes and restaurants will tempt the curious shopper.

At the seafront is a perfect location for swimming or a leisurely walk along the Lungomare promenade passing by the several small harbours where fishermen bring in their catches daily.

Monopoli is an ideal location to use a base to discover the rest of the Adriatic coast or for heading inland. It certainly is one of the jewels of Puglia.
