Puerto de La Cruz is one of Tenerife’s top resorts and is located on the north coast of the island. It lies in a stunning setting, nestled in to the Orotava Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and banana plantations, not to mention having the backdrop of Mount Teide (the island’s active volcano). There is an abundance of restaurants to choose from so you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to spend your evenings. There are some particularly good fish restaurants around the harbour and in the old town. There are a selection of bars to choose from but on the whole nightlife is more subdued here than in the southern island resorts.
Take an afternoon stroll through the beautiful Botanical Gardens, an amazing exhibit centre housing a variety of tropical and sub-tropical plants. Perhaps take an excursion to Teide National Park, home to one of the world’s largest volcanos. You can take a cable-car to the highest point and have a walk around making the most of the amazing photo opportunities. Loro Parque is one of the islands’ top attractions and provides a great day out for all the family. The park hosts daily shows with trained parrots, seals, dolphins and Orca whales to name just a few of the animals and mammals on show! The capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is only a 30 minute drive away and makes for a great shopping trip thanks to its mixture of designer boutiques and markets.
