Peschiera

Lake Garda

At the southern-most tip of the lake lies the bustling historic town of Peschiera. Built on Roman ruins this garrison walled town dates back centuries ago and is surrounded by canals. A beautiful town to walk around with its ancient gateways, arches, bridges, park, harbour and old town. Rest up on one of the riverside benches with a tasty ice cream, taking in the wonderful views as you watch the world go by. Peshiera is just 25km from the great city of Verona and is easily reached by car or train with the train station being just outside the old town.

The town’s focal point is the delightful pedestrianised old town centre where the quaint narrow streets are filled with all kinds of shops, cafes, bars and ice cream parlours. You will find a lovely selection of traditional restaurants here also. Mondays are usually market days, with the smells of local food wafting through the air and the animated cries of the stall holders you will feel in the heart of traditional Italy.

Outside the walls of the old town you will find two litle beach areas, both a 10 minute walk from the centre. The harbour is home to cute little fishing boats and yachts, it’s also the departure and pick up point for the ferries that run to and from the other lake resorts daily. It is a great resort for families with some of Italy’s best loved family attractions close by including the theme park Gardaland which is the biggest theme park in Italy, and Canevaworld with Canevaworld home to Movieland Park and Caneva Aquapark amongst other attractions! The beautiful gardens of Parco Sigurta are just 9km south of Peshiera.

Be sure to try some of the local wine! The area stretching from Sirmione to Peshiera is called ‘Lugana’ and is a well known wine producing area. Perhaps a glass over dinner with some of the local pasta dishes. Buen appetito indeed!

Transfer from Verona airport approx. 1 hour.
