Relax on the main restaurant’s terrace in the lazy morning sunshine while you sip your freshly squeezed orange juice and decide what you feel like from the breakfast buffet. There’s always a fantastic choice available, from freshly cooked omelettes to French toast and maple syrup or simple Greek yoghurts and mouthwateringly fresh local fruits.

Dining at Helona Hotel is on a half board basis and evening meals are taken in the main restaurant. The hotel’s à la carte restaurant, Thalassa, offers superb dining with a panoramic view of the coastline.

For lazy lunchtime snacks, you can pop down to the beach snack bar for a salad or panini. As the evening draws out, the Almyra Bar is a perfect location for cocktails, or wander along to the Ulysses Lounge Bar and enjoy the live music while you sip your drink.

Health and Beauty

No stone has been left unturned when it comes to the health spa, with its four treatment rooms, including two VIP cabins, chromotherapy room, double Ayurvedic suite and wet room with floating bed.

The spa also has a hamman and sauna, and provides a menu of beauty, manicure and pedicure treatments. In addition there is a heated indoor swimming pool and a gym.

These sophisticated 2-storey villas have a gated entrance leading into an open plan living room with kitchenette, sofas and floor-to-ceiling windows. The master bedroom on the ground floor has a king size bed, an en-suite bathroom with sliding wood shutters and floor-to-ceiling windows. The outside terrace can be approached from the bedroom and living room, it features sun loungers, chairs and tables and a lovely swimming pool.

On the upper floor there is a further bathroom, fitted wardrobes, a twin room with 2 single beds and a roof terrace. The roof terrace can also be accessed from the pool terrace.

All children's clubs and childcare activities are run from our Lakitira Beach Resort, right next to Helona. Our drop-in Evening Listening Service is available daily from 7.30pm to11pm and babysitting is bookable in resort with the childcare team, subject to availability.

Lakitira Beach Resort is a wonderland for children. With five super children's clubs, staffed by our qualified British nannies waiting to welcome the children, you can rest assured you will be able to relax on your holiday knowing your children are being fully entertained in a happy and fun environment.

Each club has a structured activity timetable, balancing indoor and outdoor play mindful of the hottest parts of the day. The older children learn to windsurf and sail a fun boat as part of their club in the company of our nannies and instructors, whilst babies are taking for a stroll in their buggies.

Separate kids' beach

At Lakitira there is a separate kids' beach with perfect shallow waters for paddling and splashing about, and from where all the children's watersports take place. There is a play area with swings and climbing frames and an AstroTurf football pitch for a spot of soccer for the aspiring player.

Free Evening Activities

Free evening activities are available for children booked into our kids clubs during school holiday periods from 7.30-9pm.

Ages 4 months to 5 years
Lakitira Beach Resort, just next to Helona runs a supervised Evening Listening Service for children aged 4 months to 5 years. The evening creche is open from 7.30pm until 11pm and welcomes you to bring your children along to watch a DVD on a comfy bean bag. The little ones are provided with a quiet sleeping area, so their routine is not broken.

7.30pm to 8.30pm - Entertainments for those booked into our Junior Club at Lakitira Beach Resort.
8.30pm to 11pm - Supervised Movie for all Mark Warner children in Helona at Lakitira Beach Resort.

Special Needs Childcare
If your child has special needs we offer one-to-one care in Lakitira Beach resort, next to Helona, on selected departure dates. Please be aware spaces are limited and cannot be booked online. Call our reservations team for more information. 

Children's Mealtimes
The resort hosts an early children's buffet dinner at Lakitira Beach Resort's Trattoria di Mauro restaurant every evening with plenty of healthy child friendly dishes on offer to suit our younger guests taste, this high tea is available for children 4 months to 9 years. There is also a parents kitchen available for guest use, stocked with sterilisers, fridge, microwave, kettle and supply of UHT milk at Lakitira Beach Resort.

Watersports Activities

Helona and Lakitira Beach Resorts are situated on one of the best beaches on the island and offer superb conditions for sailing and windsurfing at all levels. Light winds most mornings, ideal for beginners, build in the afternoon to force-5, great for the more advanced sailors.

Our watersports centre at Lakitira Beach is RYA accredited, and we offer a number of National Sailing scheme courses. These courses enable sailors to earn a recognised certification and are ideal if you would like to join your local sailing club and own your own dinghy.

Lakitira Beach has some exciting new kit for our guests, including: 30 new windsurf boards (Futura, GO and Kode), 2 new RS500 craft and 6 new stand-up paddleboards.

Scuba Diving

Stand-up Paddleboarding

Sailing Holidays in Kos

Conditions at Lakitira Beach Resort, next to Helona are near-perfect for every ability. The light morning wind is ideal for beginners, while for advanced sailors conditions build steadily into the afternoon, reaching force 3–5. The extensive range of sailing craft includes Lasers, Dart 16 and RS500.

It is advisable to pre-book RYA sailing courses prior to your holiday as courses booked in resort are subject to local taxes of more than 20%.

RYA Adult Courses

As an RYA accredited centre, we are able to teach the National Sailing Scheme. This offers our guests the chance to earn a recognised, certified qualification, ideal for those interested in owning a dinghy or joining a sailing club. The minimum age for the below courses is 14 years. For younger sailors we are delighted to offer the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme.

RYA Start Sailing (Level 1)
The beginner's course. Run throughout the course of the week, teaches the fundamentals of sailing. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of sailing up, down and across wind, turning the boat and how to recover from a capsize. RYA Start Sailing certificate and log book (subject to successful assessment) are awarded. This course is always popular and we recommend pre-booking in the UK.

Tuition taking you to the next level throughout the course of the week. This course consolidates the skills learnt on the Start Sailing course and sets out the foundations of sailing. A recent addition to the National Sailing Scheme, this excellent course bridges the gap between Start Sailing, Basic Skills and the Advanced Modules making the transition easier for those wishing to progress through the scheme. RYA Seamanship Skills
The successful sailor will be capable of manoeuvring a dinghy in a seamanlike manner and capable of making seamanship decisions in moderate conditions.  The emphasis of the course is placed on increasing self-reliance and decision making. RYA Youth Courses

For children under 14 years we offer the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. The YSS offers both a fun and educational experience. Structured and progressive learning, delivered under the watchful eye of our experienced, qualified instructors will allow children to come away with an RYA qualification.  The scheme links in with the adult programme allowing for a smooth transition as children's skills develop.  

Stage 1 (Age 6-13 years)
Spread over the course of the week, introducing younger sailors to the basics of launching and recovering, steering, parts of the boat and basic sailing. A certificate (subject to successful assessment) is awarded at the end of the course. It is recommended to pre-book in the UK.

Stage 2 (Age 6-13 years)
Instruction throughout the course of the week increases the ability of the young sailor's basic sailing skills, rope work and collision avoidance. At the end of the course they will be able to tack and control boat speed and leave and return to shore under supervision. Pre-bookable in the UK.

Windsurfing in Helona Beach Resort

Lakitira and Helona Beach Resorts are particularly good for windsurfing. Calm conditions in the morning suit the beginner, while as the regular thermal winds build in the afternoon, conditions are well suited for the more advanced windsurfer.

We have a fantastic team of qualified instructors running our watersports centre, all on hand to simply rig or de-rig craft for you, instruct you on an RYA course or in a free group lesson, or just take you out on the water and to show you how it's done. We have plenty of all the latest equipment for our guests' use throughout the day.

Scuba Diving at Helona Beach Resort

At Lakitira Beach Resort we have our own on-site PADI dive school offering a range of courses for beginner through to advanced divers.

If you are keen to learn and want to explore under the water, but unsure if diving is for you, then come for a free "try" dive in the pool under the supervision of one of our PADI instructors. Here you can learn all about the equipment and get a feel for being underwater without having to go too far.

Discover Scuba Diving

If you want to try scuba diving but aren't quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course this introduction course is for you.

Discover Scuba Diving covers the theory of diving, learning about the equipment in the hotel pool and is then followed by a dive in open water. Your instructor will be by your side at all times. If you wish to progress your diving further, completion of this course will count towards the PADI Open Water Diver qualification. This course can be booked in resort.

PADI Scuba Diver

If you're short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating may be right for you. This course is an intermediate step for earning an Open Water Diver certification, at any time.

The "Scuba Diver" course runs across 2 days and it includes 3 hours of theory, 3 pool dives and 2 open water sea dives. This course can be pre-booked in the UK.

PADI Open Water Diver Course

The PADI Open Water Diver course is one of the most popular and widely recognised scuba courses in the world.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

Suitable for qualified open water divers, this course enables you to improve your diving skills and progress to a qualified advanced diver. A choice of adventure dives are taken on this course, these include deep dives, navigation or night dives. Pre-bookable in the UK.

PADI Bubblemaker 

A chance for kids to blow bubbles by scuba diving, taking their first breaths underwater under the direct care and supervision of PADI instructors. This one off pool session allows children to use scuba diving equipment made for children and have lots of fun.

PADI Seal Team

This course takes 4 hours over 2 half days and is action packed with Aquamissions which include taking pictures and using navigation equipment. The course also teaches children the basics of diving such as buoyancy control, mask clearing and regulator recovery. Both ‘missions’ take place in the swimming pool. 

Mission 1 – Octopus
Children will learn breathing techniques, swimming underwater, how to use the air gauge, equalising ear pressure, hand signal use, ascent and inflating BCD on the surface.

Mission 2 – Shark Squad
This session will teach young divers how to clear water from their regulator and mask, recover their regulator and gives them the confidence to progress to the sea.

Helona Beach Resort Activities

With so many activities to do on and off the water you really are spoilt for choice. For our guests staying at Helona Beach Resort, you are very welcome to take part in all of the activities at our Lakitira Beach Resort, next to Helona, free of charge. Take a mountain bike and explore the local area, play some beach volleyball or participate in a social game of football or touch rugby throughout the week, amongst other activities available 6 days a week, from early morning through to sunset.

The fully qualified aerobics instructors run daily classes to suit all levels of fitness and include aqua sessions on the schedule.

The Sea Garden Animations Team run a daily waterpolo match which is a great spectator sports if you are not feeling competitive.

Whether you are up for a gentle knock up or a challenging game, there is plenty of opportunity for a game of tennis on the Astroturf courts situated in Mini Bodrum.

Although not run by Mark Warner Tennis coaching staff, the Sea Garden team will be on hand to help with your court bookings.

Helona Beach Resort for Adults

Helona is a fantastic hotel to enjoy as a couple or in a group of friends.  The restaurants and bars offer an intimate atmosphere throughout the day and the 21 swimming pools dotted around the resort means there is always somewhere to escape and relax. 

There are plenty of activities on offer at Lakitira Beach Resort, next door, including social tennis, group windsurfing and sailing lessons and a variety of aerobics and fitness classes.

A short distance from the beach resort is the buzzing town of Kardamena, with plenty of bars and nightlife, and slightly further is the delightful picturesque Kos town. If you fancy some serious shopping, then a day-trip to Bodrum in Turkey is easily arranged.

There are plenty of activities on offer, including social tennis, group windsurfing and sailing lessons and a variety of aerobic and fitness classes - all a short walk at Lakitra Beach Resort.

If you fancy getting out and about, a short distance from the beach resort is the town of Kardamena with its lively atmosphere.

Slightly further afield is the attractive and bustling Kos town with mosques, a medieval castle and ancient remains, most notably Asklepion. A day trip to the pretty cosmopolitan Bodrum is a must for those with a love of shopping, there's an exceptional choice of shops and restaurants however Bodrum still retains the character of a pretty market town.

Those travelling alone, are likely to meet like-minded people at this resort. Right at the start of your holiday, our customer cervice team invite you to informal early evening drinks in the bar, where you will get the chance to meet fellow guests.
