For a traditional and authentic Cretan village experience you need look no further than laid-back Analipsi. Situated on the north coast of the island between Heraklion and Hersonissos this jewel of a location is readily accessible to all the buzz and excitement you might want while still offering you the hide-away you might need.

There's almost 2km of sandy pebble beach which is easily reached along a flat well paved road as well as the sandy Lyttos beach nearby. And the more adventurous thrill-seeker will find plenty of exciting water sports along the way. The village itself moves to its own slow beat. People don't do 'hurry up' here. From the village square bordered by typical Cretan tavernas and restaurants there are numerous side streets that bring you to quiet residential streets and artisan boutiques where there's always a friendly welcome. Analipsi is also the perfect base for exploring the rest of the island including Heraklion which is about 20 minutes by car, Hersonissos and the ancient site of Knossos which is a 40 minute drive.

All in all this gorgeous village has everything a tired body and soul needs to rejuvenate.
