Carvoeiro

Algarve, Portugal

Carvoeiro is a small fishing village about 5 kilometres from Lagos. The little town is set back into the steep red cliffs, around a cove and a sheltered beach. It’s an ideal spot for families, particularly those with younger children. The beach at Carvoeiro is a beautiful protected bay with soft golden sand. You will love the calm waters; the waves are broken by the protective cliffs which curve around this beach and the soft, fine sand.

There is a full range of water sports available on the Praia do Carvoeiro from paddle boards and kayaking to jet skis and kitesurfing. There are several dive centres in the town offering courses for older kids and beginners, right the way through to advanced open water dives.

Carvoeiro is also a top golfing destination, with two 18-hole golf courses, Gramacho and Vala da Pinta, as well as a 9-hole course, Vale de Milho. Close to the town is the fishing village of Benagil. With its little fishing fleet, its cliffs flanking the golden sand beach with turquoise water, Benagil is an excellent idea for a lazy day sunbathing at the beach. Another great visit is the Algar de Benagil, a cathedral like cave with a small beach entrance. Book a boat trip to access the caves and their spectacular sight.

Transfer from Faro airport approx. 1 hour 15 mins.
