Whilst Sa Caleta is known as a fairly low key resort it is quite the hidden gem and close enough to get a local bus, or even walk, to the nearby wonderful old capital of Ciutadella which is approx 2km away. Ciutadella is a noble historic town with a picturesque harbour, fine baroque and gothic architecture and full of hustle and bustle with plenty of shops, bars and a great selection of restaurants for sampling the exquisite local cuisine. The old quarter is home to quaint narrow cobbled streets and a host of old charming buildings and monuments. Ses Voltes (The Arches) is a charming area to walk around, soaking up the atmosphere and has plenty of spots to stop for something to eat or drink and watch the world go by. You will truly experience a wonderful ambience here in Ciutadella.
Sa Caleta has a quiet tranquil atmosphere with a small array of bars, shops and restaurants and this resort is a great choice for a relaxing getaway. The sheltered sandy cove boasts beautiful white sand with gently shelving waters. The shallow waters making it ideal for families with small children. It’s great for snorkelling with plentiful fish darting in and around the rocks. Perhaps take a pedalo out on the tranquil waters or even a little sailing boat. Evenings can be spent tasting the local fare in the resort's many rustic restaurants which offer a fine sample of local cuisine, international cuisine and entertainment. Seafood is a particular speciality with ‘calderata de langosta’, a lobster dish, being a top choice! The neighbouring towns and villages are close at hand for further explorations!
